Research Methods in Evolutionary Computing

Spring Semester 2022 Workshop Paper Requirements

Typical Length Recommendations

  • Introduction (state and motivate both the problems you're addressing and the scientific questions you are investigating): 1-2 columns
  • Background (summarize the published research related to the problem you are trying to solve and explain why it's deficient and outline how your proposed research will address those deficiencies): 1-2 columns
  • Related work (summarize the published research related to your solution method): 1-2 columns
  • Methodology (describe your methodology in sufficient technical detail to allow reproduction of your results): 4-6 columns
  • Experimental setup (describe your experimental setup in sufficient technical detail to allow reproduction of your results): 2-3 columns
  • Results (tables, graphs, and statistical analysis): 2-4 columns
  • Discussion (explain what the results mean, what insights you can offer): 1-2 columns
  • Conclusion: 1/2-1 column
  • Future Work (optional): 1/2-1 column
  • References

  • Length restrictions: no restrictions, except be reasonable (e.g., don't cite every paper ever published in the field of evolutionary computing)
  • List here in a consistent style all the references you cite in your paper.

    Appendices (optional)

  • Length restrictions: no restrictions, except be reasonable (e.g., don't include material just for the sake of having more material)
  • For all the extraneous material that didn't fit in your paper proper but which you feel is important to include.
